Chris Rock has a very specific idea for how he could join Taylor Sheridan’s expanding television universe.
In a recent interview with Variety, Rock, 61, joked that he would happily take a role in Yellowstone or one of Sheridan’s many related projects.
“Hey, if Taylor Sheridan’s got a job for me, I will take that job,” Rock said. “I could be the Black guy on Yellowstone, no problem.”
The comedian then pushed the joke even further by pitching an intentionally outrageous spinoff concept.
“I could just be the Black guy that owns some land and has, like, white slaves,” he quipped. “Taylor Sheridan, let’s do the white slavery show! I’m the guy!”
Sheridan, 56, began his career as an actor before becoming known for writing films including Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. His television career later exploded with Yellowstone, which aired from 2018 to 2024 and followed the fictional Dutton family.
The success of Yellowstone led to multiple spinoffs, including 1883 and 1923, while Sheridan also created other hit shows such as Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Tulsa King.
Sheridan has become known for attracting major stars to his projects, with performers including Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford, Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore appearing across his shows.
Rock is not the only celebrity who has publicly expressed interest in joining Sheridan’s television world.
Tom Selleck previously said he would be open to returning to the Western genre and specifically mentioned wanting to work again with longtime friend Sam Elliott.
Corey Gamble has also revealed that he was once approached about appearing on Yellowstone. During an episode of The Kardashians, Kris Jenner said she encouraged Gamble to turn down the opportunity because she worried the role might involve a romantic storyline.
Gamble later joked that without Jenner’s intervention, he might already have been a Yellowstone star.
Whether Rock’s comedic pitch ever turns into an actual collaboration remains to be seen, but he made one thing clear: if Sheridan calls, he is ready to listen.
