The 2026-2027 television season has already delivered plenty of disappointing news for fans, with major streamers and networks canceling a long list of shows.
Netflix has been especially active when it comes to cutting series. One notable cancellation was Boots, which ended after just one season despite showing signs of audience growth.
The scripted drama, based on Greg Cope White’s memoir, followed Cameron, played by Miles Heizer, as he joined the U.S. Marine Corps with his best friend Ray during the 1990s. The story explored Cameron’s experience hiding his sexuality during the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” era.
Before its cancellation, Boots reportedly doubled its weekly audience and climbed to No. 2 on Netflix’s TV charts.
Netflix also canceled Building the Band and Too Much after one season each, while Ransom Canyon ended after season 2.
Prime Video also lost a notable title with Hotel Costiera. The series, starring Jesse Williams, followed former Marine Daniel as he worked as a fixer at a luxury Italian hotel while searching for the owner’s missing daughter.
Williams previously spoke about how deeply filming the show immersed him in Italian culture, from learning the language to spending time in places such as Rome and Naples.
Other streaming platforms also made significant cuts.
Apple TV+ canceled Palm Royale after season 2 and The Last Frontier after one season.
Paramount+ ended NCIS: Tony & Ziva after its first season, while Peacock canceled The Copenhagen Test after one season.
Starz also made changes, ending BMF after four seasons and Spartacus after one season.
Traditional broadcast networks were not spared either.
CBS canceled DMV after one season and Watson after season 2.
NBC ended several programs, including Brilliant Minds, Deal or No Deal Island, Yes, Chef, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Stumble and The Hunting Party.
Fox canceled Going Dutch after its second season.
Elsewhere, FX ended English Teacher after season 2, while Hallmark canceled The Way Home following season 4.
Food Network ended The Kitchen after an impressive 36 seasons, and MTV canceled Ridiculousness after season 48.
Disney+ also scrapped its planned Holes reboot, while Hulu canceled Not Suitable for Work after one season.
As networks and streaming services continue evaluating their lineups, more cancellation announcements could still arrive throughout the 2026-2027 season.
