Jon Hamm is preparing to become a first-time father with wife Anna Osceola, marking a major personal milestone that reportedly comes after years of changing feelings about parenthood.
The 55-year-old Mad Men alum is now “genuinely excited” about becoming a dad, according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly. But the insider said Hamm’s outlook on having children was very different earlier in his life.
“Jon was in a very different mindset and a different place in his life when it came to having kids in the past,” the source said, adding that years ago he felt differently about whether fatherhood was something he wanted.
Over time, however, Hamm’s perspective reportedly shifted significantly.
According to the source, his relationship with Osceola, 38, played an important role in that journey. Osceola had long known that she wanted a family, but the insider said she never pressured Hamm to make the same decision.
Instead, the couple reportedly approached the subject honestly and allowed the conversation to evolve alongside their relationship.
“They were very open with each other from the beginning about what they both wanted and how they were feeling,” the source said, describing parenthood as an ongoing conversation between them.
Hamm and Osceola first met in 2015 while working on the final season of Mad Men. Osceola appeared as Clementine, a receptionist at the spiritual retreat visited by Hamm’s character, Don Draper.
The two were romantically linked in 2017, and their relationship was confirmed in 2020. They eventually married in June 2023.
As their relationship grew stronger, the couple reportedly reached a point where becoming parents felt like the natural next chapter.
“They’re both so excited and it really feels like the right time for them,” the source told Us, adding that Hamm is now ready and genuinely looking forward to fatherhood.
His current mindset is notably different from comments he made more than a decade ago.
In a 2012 interview with Us, Hamm spoke candidly about seeing the demands of parenthood through friends who already had children.
“I see my friends who have children and I’m like, ‘Dude, how are you even upright, much less here at work at 6 a.m.?’” he said at the time.
By 2024, however, Hamm was publicly expressing a much more open attitude toward starting a family.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter that June, he said he hoped married life with Osceola would eventually include children.
“I hope it turns into kids,” Hamm said. “It’s not lost on me that I’m 53. I will be the old dad, but so it goes. It could be a good thing. We’ll see.”
News of the couple’s pregnancy emerged on August 10 after Osceola was photographed showing a growing baby bump.
Another source told Us that Hamm was “over the moon” about becoming a father and that Osceola was already well into her pregnancy and feeling good.
The couple have reportedly been enjoying a quieter period while preparing for their baby and making plans for the months ahead.
For Hamm, the pregnancy represents more than simply a new chapter. It also reflects how much his priorities and perspective have evolved over time — and how he and Osceola ultimately reached the decision together at a point that felt right for both of them.
