Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is returning for season 5 with a new group of celebrity recruits — and this time, the challenge is heading deep into the jungles of Malaysia.
In an exclusive first look at the upcoming season, stars including Mauricio Umansky, Oliver Hudson and Collin Gosselin leave behind their usual lifestyles for a brutal survival experience designed to test them physically and mentally.
“The jungle can kill you before the enemy even has a chance,” U.S. Marine Corps veteran Rudy Reyes warns in the preview before asking the recruits whether they have what it takes to survive.
Former UK Special Forces soldier Jason “Foxy” Fox also makes it clear that celebrity status will not help anyone once training begins.
Fifteen recruits from film, reality television, sports and social media will be pushed through harsh jungle warfare exercises, uncomfortable living conditions and unpredictable terrain.
Unlike many reality competition shows, Special Forces does not rely on traditional voting or elimination ceremonies. Contestants continue until they voluntarily leave, are medically removed or are unable to continue.
Candace Cameron Bure admits the experience will push her far outside her comfort zone.
“This is a little nutso for me,” she says in the preview. “I’m going to face some of my biggest fears.”
The season could also feature plenty of tension between recruits.
Ruby Rose makes her feelings known after discovering that former politician George Santos is part of the cast.
“I don’t believe that everyone deserves a second chance,” Rose says, while adding that she has never been afraid to speak her mind.
Brandi Glanville also finds herself sitting between Santos and Candace Cameron Bure and jokes that the group should avoid discussing politics or religion.
Former NFL star LeSean McCoy enters the competition with confidence, saying he has missed being challenged and proving people wrong.
“They need a true player in the room, and now I’m in the room,” he declares.
Other season 5 recruits include Bre Tiesi, Hannah Stocking, Alexia Umansky, Olympic figure skater Maxim Naumov, actor David Charvet, former NBA player Matt Barnes and world champion boxer Alycia Baumgardner.
With difficult conditions, intense physical tests and strong personalities all thrown together in one jungle environment, season 5 appears ready to push the celebrity recruits harder than ever.
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 5 premieres Thursday, September 24, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu.
