Dave Annable may have been killed off on Yellowstone, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to leave Taylor Sheridan’s TV universe behind.
The Lioness star, 46, told Us that he would love to find a way onto Dutton Ranch, even though his Yellowstone character, Lee Dutton, is no longer alive.
Annable said he is a huge fan of Sheridan’s work, especially Landman, and joked about finding a creative way to appear on one of the shows — possibly even as a relative of another character.
He also made it clear that Dutton Ranch would be especially meaningful to him because of his history with the Yellowstone world.
Annable reflected on playing Lee Dutton and said the experience gave him a deeper appreciation for Montana, the setting and the broader universe Sheridan created.
He added that he would be open to almost anything Sheridan offered him, even if it meant appearing in just one episode of another series and getting killed off again.
For Annable, the appeal goes beyond a single show.
He praised Sheridan both personally and professionally, saying he admires him as a writer and would be willing to return to his universe in almost any capacity.
Sheridan has expanded far beyond Yellowstone in recent years, creating a growing collection of shows that includes Landman, Tulsa King and Lioness.
Annable currently stars in Lioness as Neal, the husband of Joe, played by Zoe Saldaña.
He praised Saldaña’s performance, highlighting the way she balances the character’s personal life with the extreme demands of her work as a senior CIA case officer.
According to Annable, the relationship between Neal and Joe has become even more complicated in season 3.
The dangers of Joe’s work have increasingly affected their family, raising the emotional stakes in their marriage.
Annable said Neal has had to confront the reality of his wife’s job in a much more direct way, especially as the danger begins affecting both their children and their home life.
With Joe facing even greater risks, Neal’s patience and support have started to give way to fear and concern about where their relationship is headed.
Even with the drama unfolding on Lioness, Annable clearly hasn’t stopped thinking about another possible trip back into the Yellowstone world.
If Sheridan finds a way to bring him to Dutton Ranch, Annable sounds more than ready to return.
