Hulu is assembling an unexpected mix of reality TV personalities, actors and entertainers for its new competition series The Mob.
Hosted by Parker Posey, the show sends a group of celebrities to a luxurious Italian villa, where they will compete in mob movie-inspired challenges for a chance to win up to $250,000.
According to Hulu’s description, contestants will have to “shake down, hustle and whack their way” through the competition while navigating alliances, power struggles and eliminations.
A major part of the game revolves around choosing a “don.” That contestant will have significant control over the group, including influence over who earns money, who remains in the competition and who gets “whacked.”
The format raises an important question: Can the don maintain loyalty and control, or will the rest of the group eventually turn against them?
The Mob comes from executive producers behind The Traitors and will premiere on Hulu on October 26, with new episodes released weekly.
The debut cast brings together stars from several corners of entertainment.
Demi Engemann enters the competition after becoming a major personality on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, where she was heavily involved in the drama surrounding MomTok.
Bruno Tonioli is stepping away from the Dancing With the Stars judges’ table to become a contestant himself.
Joe Gorga, known for his longtime appearances on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, will also test his strategy inside the villa.
Harry Jowsey brings plenty of reality competition experience after appearances on shows including Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match.
Former Selling Sunset star Chelsea Lazkani is also returning to reality television as part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Maria Georgas, who became a fan favorite during Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor, is joining the competition as well.
The lineup also includes RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Willam Belli, musician and rapper Romeo, and Hulu personality Bella Palk.
On the scripted side, Entourage and Younger actress Debi Mazar will compete alongside Aida Turturro, who is widely recognized for playing Janice Soprano on The Sopranos.
Shane Parton, previously a contestant connected to season 22 of The Bachelorette, rounds out the announced cast.
With reality veterans, actors and performers competing for power and prize money, The Mob is shaping up to be one of Hulu’s more unusual new reality experiments.
