The Insidious franchise has officially returned with its sixth installment, Insidious: Out of the Further, bringing audiences back into the terrifying supernatural realm known as The Further.
Released in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2026, the new movie shifts the spotlight away from the Lambert family and introduces a largely new group of characters. Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother who discovers she can travel into The Further while living in her childhood home. Her ability takes an even more dangerous turn when she realizes she can bring entities from the supernatural realm back into the real world.
Brandon Perea also joins the cast, while longtime franchise star Lin Shaye returns as psychic Elise Rainier. Jacob Chase wrote and directed the film, with franchise veterans James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Jason Blum and Oren Peli among its producers.
For viewers looking to revisit the franchise, the original Insidious from 2010 is currently available in the U.S. through Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus, among other options.
The series continued with Insidious: Chapter 2 in 2013, followed by the prequel Insidious: Chapter 3 in 2015 and Insidious: The Last Key in 2018. The Lambert family later returned in 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, which marked Patrick Wilson’s feature directorial debut.
Streaming availability differs between installments and can change as licensing agreements shift, but Peacock, HBO Max and Hulu are among the services carrying entries from the franchise in the U.S. as of August 2026.
For now, fans wanting to see the newest chapter will need to head to a movie theater. Sony confirms that Insidious: Out of the Further is currently a theatrical release, while streaming availability is expected at a later date.
With a new family, a returning Elise Rainier and another dangerous journey into The Further, Out of the Further gives longtime horror fans another reason to revisit the franchise that began more than 15 years ago
