The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Lisa Barlow is opening up about one of the most emotional moments in her marriage to husband John Barlow.
Ahead of the season 7 premiere, Lisa, 51, told Us that she and John went through a difficult period that made her question whether their relationship still felt the same.
Lisa and John married in 2003 and share two sons, Jack and Henry.
Although Lisa described their marriage as strong, she also acknowledged that maintaining it has required work over the years.
She recalled that the first few years of their marriage were particularly challenging because both she and John entered the relationship as highly independent people.
Lisa said those early difficulties eventually improved, but some of the same emotions unexpectedly resurfaced last year.
One conversation filmed for RHOSLC initially didn’t feel significant to her.
Lisa said that when she and John finished filming the lunch scene, she viewed it as a normal conversation between two longtime partners who also raise children and run businesses together.
Her reaction changed when she later watched the footage back.
Lisa said seeing their interaction from the outside made her emotional and caused her to ask John, “Do you even love me anymore?”
Part of the issue, she explained, came from realizing how much time they were spending apart because of work and travel.
Lisa said she had become more aware that she didn’t always know who John was spending time with, who he was having lunch with or what was happening in his day-to-day life.
Even though those interactions were often with business associates or longtime friends, Lisa admitted that feeling disconnected from parts of John’s life began to bother her.
She said John was surprised that she questioned his love for her and reassured her that he still loved her.
Still, Lisa said the situation felt different enough that she eventually called her father for emotional support.
She recalled crying to him and saying she feared that her marriage to John might be ending.
Lisa said the difficult period ultimately pushed the couple to have more serious conversations about their relationship.
Rather than walking away, they worked through the issues and focused on staying strong as a family.
Lisa emphasized that her marriage and children remain her highest priorities.
She said she would be willing to give up almost anything before giving up her family.
