Meghan Markle’s relationship with acting has continued to evolve since she walked away from Suits ahead of her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Meghan became widely known for playing Rachel Zane on the USA Network legal drama from 2011 to 2017. When she left the series, she described the decision not as giving something up, but as beginning a new chapter.
“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter,” Meghan told the BBC in November 2017.
At the time, she said she felt proud of her seven-year run on Suits and was ready to focus on working alongside Harry and supporting causes that mattered to her.
“I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there,” she said. “And now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team.”
After Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, they relocated to California with their family. Meghan later became involved in a number of media projects, including podcasts and Netflix’s With Love, Meghan, where she appeared as herself rather than taking on a scripted character.
For several years, Meghan appeared firm about leaving traditional acting behind. In a 2022 interview with Variety, she was asked whether she would consider acting again.
“I’m done,” Meghan said. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
Her connection to entertainment, however, did not disappear completely. Meghan also spoke positively about being back around creative teams while working on the Netflix docuseries centered on her and Harry.
“For me, having worked on Suits, it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view,” she told Variety. “That’s been really fun.”
According to the supplied report, Meghan later filmed a small role in Close Personal Friends in 2025. The report also states that she entered early discussions about appearing in season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman as she and Harry prepared for a return to the U.K.
Those developments mark a notable shift from Meghan’s earlier insistence that she was finished with acting, although she had already left herself some flexibility with her “never say never” comment.
Meghan has also said she would support her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, if they eventually chose careers in entertainment. In 2022, she told Variety that she would want them to pursue whatever brings them joy while recognizing the work required to build a career in the industry.
For now, Meghan’s previous comments show that her feelings about acting have changed over time — from proudly closing the door on Suits, to saying she was “done,” to once again becoming connected with acting opportunities.
