Landman is expanding its cast for season 3, bringing another familiar face from Taylor Sheridan’s television universe into the Paramount+ drama.
Paramount+ confirmed on Wednesday, September 9, that Lioness star Michael Kelly, 57, has joined the upcoming season. Kelly will play William Crockett, described as “the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world.”
According to the official character description, William is a powerful industry figure whose presence reflects both wealth and efficiency.
Kelly is already familiar with Sheridan’s world through his role as Byron on Lioness, and the actor previously revealed that he is a major fan of Landman.
“I f***ing love Landman,” Kelly told Us in July, praising stars Billy Bob Thornton and Sam Elliott and calling the series a fun watch for him and his wife, Karyn Kelly.
Kelly also spoke highly of his experience working on Sheridan’s projects, saying he considers the writer and producer one of the best in the business.
The actor described his time on Lioness as a “freaking dream” and said he feels grateful to be part of Sheridan’s expanding television universe.
Landman, which is based on the Boomtown podcast, premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024. The West Texas-set drama stars Thornton as a corporate fixer working within the high-stakes oil industry.
Season 2 began production in April 2025 and wrapped in August before premiering later that November.
Season 3, however, has experienced production delays. Filming was initially expected to begin in May before being pushed back by several months. The start date was delayed again, with production seemingly targeting late September.
Cast member James Jordan recently said he had only received one script but suggested work on the new season was actively moving forward.
He also indicated that the story is expected to continue directly from where the previous season ended rather than jumping forward in time.
“We pick up where we left off,” Jordan said, adding that he was excited to see where the story goes.
Jordan also speculated that the fast turnaround of modern television production could potentially allow Landman to return before the end of the year, though he made clear that he did not have confirmed information about the release schedule.
Kelly’s addition introduces another major figure into the show’s oil-industry storyline and further connects Landman with Sheridan’s broader roster of Paramount+ dramas.
