Supriya Ganesh may be leaving The Pitt, but she says she is still a fan of the HBO Max medical drama.
Ganesh, 28, opened up about her future relationship with the show after news of her surprise departure, revealing that she fully intends to keep watching even though she will no longer be part of the cast.
“I mean, fan for life,” Ganesh told E! News on Thursday, September 10.
She added that she may actually enjoy watching the show more now because she will no longer have to see herself on screen.
“I get self-conscious about my work,” she explained, noting that her exit removes that barrier.
Ganesh also reflected positively on working with Noah Wyle, saying she learned a great deal from his experience on ER and from hearing him discuss what it was like spending years on a major medical drama.
News broke in April that Ganesh would be written out after season 2.
Her departure sparked frustration among some fans, particularly because it followed Tracy Ifeachor’s exit after season 1. Both departures were described as creative decisions tied to the show’s realistic portrayal of the medical profession.
Creator R. Scott Gemmill previously explained that hospitals naturally have staff turnover, and that The Pitt intends to reflect that reality by allowing characters to come, learn and eventually move on.
Gemmill also addressed criticism that two of the show’s major departures involved women of color.
He described the situation as a coincidence connected to the show’s diverse cast rather than a deliberate pattern.
Wyle also defended the decision, explaining that emergency rooms naturally have a high turnover rate and that cast changes allow the writers to introduce new characters and keep storylines fresh.
He suggested that similar departures could happen in future seasons as the show continues trying to balance realism with maintaining its ensemble.
Wyle also praised Ganesh and her character, Dr. Mohan, calling her an important part of the series.
“Dr. Mohan is a beloved character,” he said, adding that he enjoyed working with Ganesh and wished her the best in whatever comes next.
Despite leaving the series, Ganesh’s comments make it clear there is no bitterness on her end.
Instead, she appears ready to watch The Pitt from the same position as the rest of its audience — as a fan.
The Pitt is currently streaming on HBO Max.
