Tulsa King fans apparently don’t need to worry about the series disappearing anytime soon as Taylor Sheridan prepares for his eventual move to NBCUniversal.
Paramount+ head of originals Jane Wiseman addressed the future of the Sylvester Stallone-led drama during an interview published Monday, August 17, confirming that Season 4 is on the way and suggesting the series could continue beyond that point.
“We’re about to announce the premiere date for Tulsa King season 4,” Wiseman said, describing the upcoming installment as an “incredible season.”
She also praised Stallone’s performance and teased that viewers can expect some surprises before making one point clear: “That show is continuing.”
When asked whether Tulsa King could return after Season 4, Wiseman left the door open.
“It could,” she said while discussing Paramount’s continuing slate of Taylor Sheridan projects, including Landman and other shows connected to his television universe.
The comments come as the supplied story reports that a writers’ room for Tulsa King Season 5 has already opened, providing another indication that Paramount is planning beyond the upcoming fourth season.
The series is also expected to undergo a significant production change.
Although much of Tulsa King has been filmed in Atlanta, production is reportedly relocating to New York. According to the supplied report, both budgetary and storyline considerations contributed to the move, with New York’s expanded film tax incentives also playing a role.
The production change arrives after several behind-the-scenes shifts throughout the show’s run.
Terence Winter originally served as showrunner alongside Sheridan before stepping down from that position following the Season 2 renewal because of creative differences. Winter later returned as head writer.
Rather than immediately replacing him with another traditional showrunner, the series relied on other production leadership to oversee day-to-day operations.
Dave Erickson later became showrunner during Season 3. By Season 4, however, production moved forward without a conventional showrunner in place, with Scott Stone overseeing daily production responsibilities while Winter again contributed as a writer.
Questions about the future of Sheridan’s Paramount projects have increased since news emerged of his major deal with NBCUniversal.
The filmmaker and television producer’s five-year agreement covering film, television and streaming is expected to begin January 1, 2029, once his current Paramount television deal concludes.
Sheridan’s move does not necessarily mean his existing franchises will follow him.
According to the supplied story, Paramount will retain the rights to Yellowstone and other properties Sheridan created under his deal with the company, meaning his NBCUniversal partnership is expected to focus largely on new projects.
