Kelly Clarkson didn’t let an unexpected wardrobe scare interrupt her sense of humor during a recent Las Vegas performance.
While speaking to the audience during her Saturday, August 8, concert at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, the 44-year-old singer suddenly noticed that her sheer crop top had shifted.
“There’s a lot of amazing things happening, uh oh, there’s my boobs,” Clarkson joked as she quickly adjusted her top.
Rather than becoming embarrassed by the moment, the singer immediately reassured the crowd that there was little chance of anything more revealing happening.
“They’re too small, they won’t come out. You’re fine,” she joked before declaring that her breasts were “perfect.”
The spontaneous moment quickly turned into a longer and characteristically candid conversation with the audience.
Clarkson acknowledged that she had been making a self-deprecating joke before remembering messages she had received about staying positive because the concert happened to fall on August 8.
She referenced the Lion’s Gate Portal, which is associated by followers with August 8 and ideas surrounding positive energy and manifestation.
Clarkson said friends had been texting her with reminders not to speak negatively about herself or other people. That advice apparently stayed in her mind during the performance, because she quickly corrected herself after making the joke.
She humorously told the “universe” that she was only kidding before praising her body instead.
The singer also questioned why that kind of positive thinking should be limited to one particular day.
Clarkson told the crowd she had received messages encouraging her not to gossip or speak negatively while focusing on the things she wanted in life. She joked that perhaps people should be trying to follow those rules every day rather than only during a special occasion.
The performance was part of Clarkson’s limited Las Vegas residency, but her conversation with fans eventually moved beyond wardrobe mishaps and manifestation.
Speaking about the people around her, Clarkson said she feels fortunate to be surrounded by talented people she enjoys working with.
She then joked that getting older had led her to adopt a “no a**holes allowed policy,” before once again playfully correcting the negative wording for the sake of the positive-energy discussion.
“They’re just on a different path than I am,” she said.
The conversation then became considerably more personal.
Clarkson reflected on how difficult relationships and childhood experiences can affect a person’s ability to recognize healthy relationships later in life.
She told the audience that some people grow up without being surrounded by individuals who recognize their worth, which can make building healthier relationships as an adult more complicated.
Clarkson also acknowledged the role therapy has played in helping her examine those experiences and take responsibility for moving forward.
