Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg and More: Where the ‘Blue Bloods’ Cast Is Headed Next

The Blue Bloods cast may have said goodbye to the long-running CBS drama, but many of its stars are already moving into new projects — while some remain connected to the franchise through the upcoming Boston Blue spinoff.

Blue Bloods premiered in 2010 and centered on the Reagan family, with several generations working in law enforcement. Tom Selleck led the series as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, alongside Len Cariou as Henry Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan and Will Estes as Jamie Reagan.

The show ended in December 2024 after 14 seasons, a decision Selleck openly admitted was difficult for him to accept. In an October 2024 interview with TV Insider, he said he was frustrated because the series had remained consistently successful and dependable for CBS.

Selleck explained that Blue Bloods had performed strongly from the beginning and said he felt the series had sometimes been taken for granted because of that consistency. He also admitted that adjusting to life without the show would take time after spending so many years playing Frank Reagan.

Not long after the series finale, CBS announced Boston Blue, a spinoff that would continue part of the Reagan family story with Wahlberg reprising his role as Danny Reagan. In the new series, Danny takes on a position with the Boston Police Department.

Wahlberg is also expanding his television work outside the Blue Bloods universe. After hosting Investigation Discovery’s Very Scary People for six seasons, he began working alongside his wife, Jenny McCarthy, on Very Scary Lovers. Before Blue Bloods, Wahlberg was known for projects including Band of Brothers and several installments of the Saw franchise.

Bridget Moynahan is also keeping busy. After wrapping her run as Erin Reagan, she was honored with the JFK National Award and joined the cast of Original Sound. She is also returning to the Blue Bloods world through Boston Blue and is expected to direct an episode. In addition, Moynahan booked a role in an upcoming football drama from Dan Fogelman.

Will Estes, who played Jamie Reagan throughout the series, became closely associated with Blue Bloods after previously appearing in projects including U-571, American Dreams and The Dive From Clausen’s Pier.

Len Cariou, who portrayed family patriarch Henry Reagan, has also moved on to a new project. In July 2025, he joined the cast of MGM+’s American Classic, replacing the late Harris Yulin. Cariou had previously appeared in Into the Storm, Damages and Brotherhood before joining Blue Bloods.

Selleck, meanwhile, is developing another installment in the Jesse Stone movie franchise. He is also expected to make a guest appearance in an upcoming Apple TV project. Before becoming Frank Reagan, Selleck was already widely known for Magnum, P.I., Three Men and a Baby and his memorable appearances on Friends.

Vanessa Ray, who played Eddie Janko-Reagan, had previously appeared in Pretty Little Liars before joining the CBS drama. Marisa Ramirez, who played Detective Maria Baez, has also remained a fan favorite, with viewers continuing to hope she will eventually appear in Boston Blue.

Although Blue Bloods has officially ended, the cast has made it clear that the Reagan family still has plenty of life beyond the original series. Between the Boston Blue spinoff, new acting roles, directing opportunities and returning franchises, many of the show’s stars are already entering the next chapter of their careers.
