Aubrey Plaza has reportedly entered a new chapter in her life: motherhood.
The actress and her boyfriend, Chris Abbott, reportedly welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, in late July.
According to TMZ, Plaza was photographed holding the newborn while leaving Abbott’s final performance in the Broadway production of Death of a Salesman on Sunday, August 9. Representatives for Plaza and Abbott had not publicly confirmed the reported birth at the time of the original report.
News of Plaza’s pregnancy first emerged in April, when her representative confirmed that the Parks and Recreation alum was expecting her first child with Abbott.
Plaza and Abbott have known each other professionally for years. They appeared together in the 2020 film Black Bear and later reunited for the 2023 Off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Soon after her pregnancy became public, Plaza was seen showing her baby bump while walking her dog in New York City. She also supported Abbott at an afterparty celebrating the Broadway opening of Death of a Salesman.
Later that month, Plaza spoke openly — and characteristically humorously — about pregnancy during an appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast.
“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” she joked.
She also described an unusual coincidence involving her own prenatal appointment and her dog’s veterinary visit.
Plaza explained that both she and her dog had ultrasounds on the same day, joking about the strange timing before confirming that she was excited about becoming a parent.
“I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about,” she said of motherhood. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
The pregnancy continued to produce memorable moments. During a May interview with TheWrap, Plaza suddenly felt the baby move.
“The baby just knocked on me,” she said. “I just got knocked.”
Abbott also publicly acknowledged their growing family in May while appearing on Today With Jenna and Sheinelle.
When Jenna Bush Hager congratulated him on expecting a baby, Abbott initially joked that she was referring to his Tony Award nomination before thanking the hosts for their well wishes.
“It’s very exciting,” he said.
The reported arrival comes after an emotionally difficult period in Plaza’s life.
Her estranged husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, died in January 2025 at age 47. Plaza and Baena had married in 2021 and had reportedly separated before his death.
Months later, Plaza spoke about living with grief during an appearance on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast. She said she remained grateful to be moving forward while acknowledging that grief continued to be a daily struggle.
Now, with the reported arrival of her daughter, Plaza appears to be beginning another significant chapter alongside Abbott.
The couple has generally kept their personal relationship private, and neither had publicly shared extensive details about the baby at the time of the initial report.
For Plaza, however, one sentiment had been clear throughout her pregnancy: she was genuinely excited to discover what becoming a mother would be like.
