Jamie Foxx is opening up about preparing to become a father again at 58 as he and girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp await their first child together.
The Oscar-winning actor admitted that his age initially made him uncertain about starting another chapter of fatherhood.
“Being my age, I was a little on the fence,” Foxx told E! News on Thursday, August 20.
His outlook changed, however, after a conversation with fellow actor Al Pacino, who welcomed son Roman in 2023 later in life. Foxx joked about Pacino returning to the school drop-off line and said the encounter helped put his own situation into perspective.
Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx, 32, is also embracing the growing family. Corinne, who works alongside her father on the Fox game show Beat Shazam, spoke warmly about their relationship and what she has learned from watching him professionally.
She said her father has shown her that being excellent at your job does not mean having to be serious all the time, praising the lighthearted atmosphere he creates while working.
Foxx also reflected on how his major health scare in 2023 changed the way he views life. The actor previously revealed that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke after experiencing a severe headache.
Looking back on that difficult period, Foxx credited his daughter with helping him through his recovery and said the experience strengthened his desire to fully embrace the future.
“A few years back, I went through something horrible,” he said. “My daughter made sure I got back. Now, seeing that I have a new life and to have my daughters embrace it, that’s all that matters.”
Foxx added that welcoming another child feels like part of making the most of the life he has been given.
“This is part of living — having a new life to live and share with is amazing,” he said.
News emerged in May that Foxx and Huckstepp were expecting their first child together. The couple were first romantically linked in 2022, briefly separated three years later and later rekindled their relationship.
Foxx is already father to Corinne, whom he shares with ex Connie Klein, and 17-year-old daughter Anelise, whom he shares with ex Kristin Grannis
