Nicole Kidman is embracing her natural hair while enjoying what she called a “trip of a lifetime” in Iceland.
The 59-year-old actress shared a series of photos from her family getaway on Instagram on Tuesday, August 18, giving fans a rare look at her naturally curly hair.
In one photo, Kidman leaned against a boat railing as her curls blew freely in the wind. She wore her hair parted down the middle and kept her look relaxed with a gray knit sweater and light blue jeans.
Kidman also showed a more casual version of her curls while spending time in a hot tub aboard the boat. For that moment, she pulled her hair into a loose, messy bun and wore a blue striped bikini top with thin straps and ruffled detailing.
Her natural texture made another appearance during an evening outing. Kidman wore her curls down while sipping a martini at a cocktail bar, pairing the hairstyle with a silver silk skirt, black sweater and metallic slingback heels.
“Beautiful country, trip of a lifetime,” Kidman wrote in the caption while thanking those who helped make the getaway special. “Thank you for being so kind to my family and guests. We love you Iceland!! 🇮🇸.”
The photos stood out because Kidman has previously spoken about her relationship with her naturally curly hair.
While looking back at footage of herself from the 1990s, the actress once questioned why she had spent so much time straightening it.
“Why did I straighten my hair? I loved my hair there. That is my natural hair. Isn’t that crazy?” she said.
Kidman also encouraged others with naturally textured hair to think carefully before repeatedly straightening it, explaining that recreating her curls now requires the right conditions and products.
