The women of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives have built a reputation for speaking openly about their personal lives, and cosmetic surgery is no exception.
Several members of the reality show’s cast, including Jessi Draper, Taylor Frankie Paul and Layla Taylor, have discussed their decisions to undergo cosmetic procedures, sharing everything from the confidence that motivated them to the difficult recoveries and regrets that followed.
Jessi Draper Gets Candid About Facial Procedures
Jessi Draper has been particularly open about her cosmetic surgery journey.
In August 2025, she told TikTok followers that she was preparing to undergo upper and lower blepharoplasty, explaining that the procedure was intended to address loose skin around her under-eye area.
Months later, in January 2026, Jessi shared another update while recovering from eyelid surgery and fat injections in her face. With her face still swollen, she reminded fans that what they were seeing was part of the healing process.
“Believe it or not, this is not how I want to look,” she joked while icing her face. “I’m still healing, I’m still swollen. This is not the look I’m going for, it’s just part of the process.”
By March, Jessi was reflecting more deeply on the insecurities that influenced some of her choices.
“I have such self-confidence issues,” she told Allure, adding that looking back allowed her to see herself differently. “I was beautiful and I wasn’t able to say that a few months ago, and I can say that now.”
Jessi Pushes Back Against Comments About Her Appearance
Jessi has also been outspoken about the criticism she receives online.
In July 2025, she responded to cruel comments about her appearance, telling followers that remarks about a woman’s facial features can still hurt even when she usually tries to ignore them.
She also explained that her defined jawline was connected to a jaw realignment procedure she underwent to treat temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ.
Jessi said the criticism created a frustrating situation in which she was judged both for having procedures and for the way she looked afterward.
“I also get roasted for getting plastic surgery done but then get endless comments about my looks that make me more insecure so you can never win,” she wrote.
Taylor Frankie Paul Explains Her Breast Augmentation
Taylor Frankie Paul also discussed cosmetic surgery during season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Taylor revealed that she underwent another breast augmentation after previously having the procedure several years earlier. She explained that becoming a mother had changed how she felt about her body and that she wanted a “touch-up.”
She also said her plans to appear on The Bachelorette played a role in the timing of her decision.
“I’m doing it one, to feel good about myself, but two, for The Bachelorette,” Taylor explained.
Because she expected to wear more dresses while filming than she normally would, Taylor said she wanted to feel confident in them.
Layla Taylor Opens Up About Surgery Regrets
Layla Taylor has also shared both positive and difficult sides of her cosmetic surgery experience.
In March 2026, she revealed that she had undergone a breast implant revision because she wanted her chest to feel more proportionate to her body.
“I’ve been thinking about getting my boobs redone for, honestly, since I got them done,” she said while discussing the procedure with plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Barrett. “I just wanted a fresher look.”
By August, however, Layla was speaking more openly about complications from some of her earlier procedures.
During an appearance on the Get Real podcast, she said she had learned “the hard way” after needing corrective work following previous surgeries.
Layla said she had undergone a second breast procedure and also needed a hernia repair after experiencing problems following an earlier tummy tuck.
According to Layla, her initial breast surgery and tummy tuck had been provided to her for free. Her experience ultimately changed the way she viewed those opportunities.
“My biggest piece of advice: If you’re ever offered something for free, just pay for it,” she said. “Go to somebody that you know for a fact is going to do it right.”
For Jessi, Taylor and Layla, the conversations surrounding plastic surgery have gone beyond before-and-after results. Their experiences have also highlighted the personal reasons behind cosmetic procedures — and the complicated mix of confidence, insecurity, recovery and regret that can come with them.
